Press Release Bittersweet change EVERETT – Beyond the Blue Bridal, a happy place in downtown Everett since 2001, will begin a liquidation sale on Thursday, April 10. For owner Dale Preboski, it’s time for a change. “This business has offered my employees and me an opportunity to be part of our customers’ lives at very joyous times,” Preboski said this week. “We have loved being party to weddings, proms, Quinceaneras, cruise trips, baptisms, and so much more!” “I hope we’ve also been a small part of the rebirth of downtown Everett.” Preboski said it is important for her to leave the store on a happy note. To help make that happen, she has hired the marketing firm of G. A. Wright of Denver to assist with the closing. Together, they’ll be offering customers huge discounts as well as an exciting prize contest. Beyond the Blue opened its doors in 2001, just days after the terrorist attack of September 11. The 2,500 sq. ft. store at the northeast corner of Wetmore and Hewitt put on a brave face again during the months-long Hewitt Avenue roadwork in 2002. The owner also cheered and endured the construction of the Everett Events Center just two blocks away. Happily, in seven years she has seen downtown Everett blossom. “It has been an uphill climb, but we moved up the mountain,” she said. What began as a wish to bring beautiful gowns to Everett residents diverged along the way. Today, Beyond the Blue brings customers from around the state to Everett, thanks to customer referrals and manufacturers’ website recommendations. “In the beginning, I never envisioned Seattle brides coming to Everett,” the owner said. “But today they come to see us from all around the state.” Selling Beyond the Blue Bridal and transferring the lease is still an option, Preboski said. A more likely scenario is liquidating the store’s inventory and simply closing the doors, she said. Preboski said she has accomplished much of what she set out to accomplish. “I wanted to own and direct my own business,” she said. “I wanted to bring beauty to the city I love. Seven years ago, I asked myself: ‘If not now – when?’ It’s the same question I’m asking myself today,” she said. “The time is right for another change.” In the meantime?
